Unlocking Malaysia’s Talent Potential with TalentCorp

We were delighted to host an engaging session featuring esteemed speakers from TalentCorp Malaysia, where BMCC members had the opportunity to gain first-hand updates on Malaysia’s talent and expatriate ecosystem.
TalentCorp’s Ilham Kesuma initiative boosts access to quality, paid internships for Malaysian students through incentives like tax deductions (MySIP), grants for SMEs (LiKES), and training support (ITS). It supports up to 280,000 students yearly and aligns with the 1:3 internship policy, urging firms to hire one intern for every three employees, strengthening talent pipelines nationwide.
The Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T), introduced by TalentCorp, is a 10-year renewable visa aimed at attracting and retaining top-tier foreign professionals in Malaysia. It offers flexibility for highly skilled expatriates who have worked in the country for at least 3 consecutive years and earn a minimum monthly salary of RM15,000. RP-T holders can switch employers without reapplying for a new pass, while their spouses and children gain access to employment and education opportunities. The RP-T is a key part of Malaysia’s strategy to strengthen its global talent pool.
TalentCorp’s Career Comeback Programme (CCP) supports Malaysian women returning to the workforce after a career break by offering employer connections, upskilling workshops, and confidence-building support. Eligible participants must have at least three years of prior work experience and a break of over six months. The initiative also includes a one-year income tax exemption for women resuming work after a break of at least 24 months.
Through initiatives like Ilham Kesuma, Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T), and the Career Comeback Programme (CCP), TalentCorp continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening Malaysia’s talent ecosystem. These programmes not only bridge gaps between education and employment but also attract global expertise and reintegrate experienced professionals into the workforce, supporting national growth by building a diverse, inclusive, and future-ready workforce.
A special thank you to Sathiamurthi Ratnam, Vice President, Group Client Relationship Management, TalentCorp Berhad, Simon Ang Song Huang, Assistant Vice President, Graduate and Emerging Talent (GET), Asyraful Munzir bin Ar Alhan, Assistant Vice President I, MYXpats Centre, and Nor Adila binti Adzhar, Senior Associate, Residence Pass-Talent, MYXpats Centre, who shared their insights with us.
