The BMCC successfully organised an exclusive roundtable discussion with the Chairman of the National Recovery Council, the Honourable Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Yassin on 17 November 2021. The breakfast roundtable was attended by 15 BMCC members comprising Sterling members from various sectors that are deeply impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic as well as key sectors that will help accelerate the economic recovery under the National Recovery Plan.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin, in his opening remarks, said, “We are here today to exchange and discuss ideas on the way forward as the country transitions to an endemic phase. Malaysia must strive for a growth-led recovery that is able to generate jobs and elevate incomes. We must turn the crisis into an opportunity to reform and revitalise our economy. Malaysia must also take this opportunity to champion Economic and Social Governance (ESG) and commit fully to our sustainability agenda and carbon-neutral aspirations. Our aim post-pandemic, in whatever the sector, should not just be a return to the status quo but something that is even better and fairer.”
This roundtable discussion provided the selected BMCC members an opportunity to hear from Tan Sri Muhyiddin directly on the government’s recovery plans, feedback on issues raised by our members, and most importantly, resulted in an invitation by Tan Sri Muhyiddin himself for the BMCC to present specific issues and recommendations that will benefit the country’s recovery to the National Recovery Council in the coming weeks.
