The first of the BMCC’s Breakfast Talk Series kicked off to a great start last week, with International SOS hosting the event.
In what was an exclusive and complementary knowledge-share for BMCC members, over two dozen attendees were present to listen to Ho Mun Kiat, SVP & National Practice Leader, EH&B of Marsh Insurance Brokers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Dr. Greg Jakubowski, Regional Medical Director, Corporate Solutions Asia of International SOS address the topic of “Wellness – The Strategy from Good to Great.”
Before the speakers took stage, BMCC Executive Director Aurelia Silva, International SOS General Manager and BMCC Vice Chairman, David Ng as well as Celine Chan, Managing Director of TMF Group Malaysia each provided brief opening remarks and welcoming all present.
Mr. Ho Mun Kiat gave an in depth overview on Malaysia’s health situation and behavioural changes and wellness in the workplace, backed up by the latest data analytics and statistics. He revealed that the rising effect of stress is evident, and with that high expenditures on medical costs. With a well designed plan driven by data and a focus on prevention before cure, there are measures each company can take to reduce risks and contain costs.
Dr. Greg Jakubowsi in turn addressed the matter of wellness itself, defining it, why it’s important, what is needed to achieve it, how wellness can be delivered and where the current trend is going. In answering each of these questions, his presentation provided a clear step by step outlook whilst emphasising the importance of prevention in maintaining the company’s edge in a competitive environment.
The session ended with a serving of breakfast and refreshments, as well as a tour of the International SOS office. The BMCC wishes to thank the International SOS for their hospitality, TMF Group, sponsor of BMCC’s Breakfast Talk Series plus all who attended. Stay tuned for the next instalment in the series and we look forward to seeing you there!
