Energy Committee

The BMCC Energy Committee provides a platform for members to engage in meaningful discourse, collaboration, and knowledge exchange on opportunities, gaps, and business challenges within the energy sector. It plays an active role in contributing to the development of sustainable energy solutions across oil and gas, renewable energy, power, and utilities. Committed to advancing Malaysia’s energy industry, the Committee supports the nation’s sustainable energy transition through close collaboration with government bodies and industry stakeholders in key strategic areas.
The Committee focuses on advocating initiatives in decarbonisation, the hydrogen economy, carbon capture, and decommissioning, in alignment with the government’s aspiration to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050.

Nuclear Energy Roundtable: Strengthening UK-Malaysia Dialogue
The Nuclear Energy Roundtable Discussion was convened in conjunction with the visit of Carrie Leadbeater-Hart, Nuclear Technical Specialist, and Anna Donnellan, Head of Advanced Nuclear Technologies, from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), United Kingdom.

Energy Forum 2026 – Connected & Charged: The Future of Energy in Malaysia
BMCC was honoured to collaborate with bp Malaysia in convening government and industry leaders for a timely and thought-provoking dialogue on Malaysia’s energy future.

1st Meeting in 2026
The BMCC Energy Committee also held its first meeting of 2026 with Farhan Zamri, BMCC Executive Director. The session focused on the Committee’s priorities and initiatives for the year, including developments in renewable energy, EV management, and decarbonisation efforts. The meeting also explored emerging areas of interest in the industry, which will be covered in our upcoming Energy Forum.

1st Meeting in 2025
The BMCC Energy Committee kicked off their first meeting of the year on 20 February, setting the stage for a dynamic 2025.

BMCC Meeting With The Energy Institute
The BMCC, in collaboration with the British High Commission, hosted a roundtable discussion with the Energy Institute. They are represented by Andy Brown, President and Peter Godfrey, Managing Director for APAC.

BMCC Courtesy Call with YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition & Water Transformation
We had a courtesy meeting with YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition & Water Transformation (PETRA) to hear directly from the minister on the ministry’s key national priorities in energy transition, in areas such as renewable energy, the ASEAN Power Grid, skill gaps, and capability development.

2nd Meeting in 2025
Our Energy Committee convened at Mott MacDonald’s office in Bangsar South. Led by Deputy Chair Dr. Leon Rosario, Regional President (ASEAN) of Ricardo plc, the committee discussed future plans based on the Chamber’s prior engagements with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), our trip to Sarawak for a validation workshop that the British High Commission organised, and our roundtable with the President of the Energy Institute.

Energy Committee Dialogue Session – Nuclear Power: A Global Overview 2025
In conjunction with World Nuclear Energy Day on 2 December, the members of our Energy Committee held a dialogue session with Sheriffah Noor Khamseah Al-Idid binti Dato’ Syed Ahmad Idid, Consultant Nuclear Power and Innovation Alumna, Imperial College London and Global Network Ambassador (WNED Malaysia), and Innovation and Nuclear Advocate.
