Welcoming H.E. Ajay Sharma, British High Commissioner to Malaysia at EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Yesterday, we hosted a Welcome Reception and Networking Session at EQ Kuala Lumpur in celebration of His Excellency Ajay Sharma’s recent appointment as the British High Commissioner to Malaysia.

After a warm introduction by BMCC CEO Jennifer Lopez, Mak Joon Nien, BMCC Chairman and Managing Director & CEO of Standard Chartered Malaysia, led a fireside chat with H.E. Ajay. The conversation explored his distinguished 30-year diplomatic career — including previous head of mission roles as Chargé d’affaires to Iran, British Ambassador to Qatar, and Chargé d’affaires to Türkiye. He also served as Deputy Ambassador to France and held postings in Moscow and Paris.

The evening concluded with a lively networking session, allowing BMCC members to connect with the High Commissioner and with fellow leaders in the UK-Malaysia business community.
