UK-Malaysia Trade

Success Stories

Venturing into an overseas market can be a challenging task, especially for SMEs who are new to that market. Our experienced sector specialists for UK Malaysia trade services offer professional advice.

Naylor Farms

The partnership between the BMCC and Naylor Farms has been successful for the British farm-to-fork producer of quality vegetables. In January 2018, the BMCC trade team organised a showcase and networking reception. The event, held at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Kuala Lumpur, was integral to the promotion of Naylor Farms’ new, innovative range of coleslaws and potato salad. Over 50 representatives from the food service industry attended.

Just over a year later, Naylor Farms became the cabbage supplier for KFC Malaysia’s famous coleslaw. In May 2019, Simon Naylor signed an agreement with KFC Malaysia’s operating company, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd. Naylor Farms’ cabbages are renowned for their crunchy texture which can now be enjoyed by the citizens of Malaysia.

Following this success, Naylor Farms exhibited at the Malaysian International Food & Beverage (MIFB) Trade Fair. The exhibition took place in June 2019 – the BMCC Trade Team organised a UK pavilion where Naylor Farms was situated. The response to the ready-to-eat coleslaw and potato salad range was positive. Many potential buyers and exhibition visitors enjoyed sampling the various flavours on offer.

The BMCC and Naylor Farms continue to work closely to benefit businesses and the environment. In September 2019, Naylor Farms attended the BMCC Business Forum with a focus on ‘Formulating a Plastic Circular Economy in Malaysia’. The aim is for Malaysian-based companies to collaborate and create solutions to help tackle plastic pollution. Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, was also in attendance to discuss the challenges with several Malaysian-based entrepreneurs.

Looking to the near future, Naylor Farms will be launching an all-new vegan range so even more people can enjoy the crunchy, creamy taste experience! The original range of Halal-friendly salads is available from selected Jaya Grocer and Aeon supermarkets.

Nimble Babies

In August 2017, Nimble responded to an Export Opportunity (EO) posted on the Exporting is Great website by the BMCC Trade Team, seeking Organic Baby Products. The BMCC introduced Nimble Babies to the local company which resulted in 2 of their products – Milk Buster and Sticky Stopper being supplied to the Malaysian market today. The BMCC has assisted numerous UK companies to do business in Malaysia and continues to be a key facilitator for British exports.

The Rose Tree

In May 2017, the BMCC Trade Team introduced British company The Rose Tree to a local department store, Metrojaya.  This has resulted in the launch of the brand in 3 Metrojaya stores this year.

The Rose Tree is a multiple award-winning British beauty brand with a focus on extraordinary organic products for body and soul. Its products include luxury organic skincare, body, bath and shower oils, and its natural wax aromatherapy candles.

The Rose Tree is the brainchild of entrepreneur, Olga Rumble, a former stressed-out corporate employee who ditched the daily London commute to turn back to the power and simplicity of natural botanicals to manage her skincare woes and stress levels.

Rose Tree founder Olga said: “I am very excited about bringing our beautifully British organic range to Malaysia and sharing the Rose Tree approach to looking and feeling amazing. The market for organic skin care is booming and the pillars of green credentials, craftsmanship and quality make for real appeal. It used to be that British women wanted Asian products but now it’s becoming the other way around.”

All their products are proudly manufactured in Britain and are now available at Metrojaya outlets (Mid Valley Megamall Kuala Lumpur, The Curve – Selangor and Metrojaya Komtar JBCC – Johor Bahru). For more information, visit www.therosetree.co.uk
