Accelerating the energy transition will require investment in projects that offer sustainable returns and long-term value. Developing more bankable projects with innovative capital models is essential to attract investor participation and mobilise the capital needed to support Malaysia’s energy transition ambitions.
As larger and more complex initiatives emerge, including renewable energy developments and regional projects such as the ASEAN Power Grid, better risk-sharing and stronger collaboration among policymakers, financiers and project developers will become increasingly important.
Supportive policy frameworks and sustainable finance initiatives will also play an important role in strengthening investor confidence and enabling long-term participation in the energy transition.
