Synthomer plc is a speciality chemical company with a turnover of approximately £1.2 Billion and employing 2700 people globally. The Head Office is in London and the Company is quoted on the FTSE 250 index. Synthomer has been operating in Asia for almost a century, and today this region represents around 35% of the Company’s profits. Synthomer employs over 800 people in the region with major operations in Malaysia (600 People), Thailand, Vietnam, China and lesser representation in Australia, Indonesia and India. In the last 20 years, the Company has invested over £200 Million in Malaysia to establish itself as the world’s largest supplier of Synthetic Nitrile Latex, used in the production of Nitrile Gloves. Currently, the Company has just embarked upon a RM260 Million investment at its Pasir Gudang facility in Johor State to expand its Nitrile Latex capacity. In addition to its position in Nitrile Latex it is also a leading producer of water-based emulsion polymers used in a wide range of applications in the coating, construction, paper, carpet and adhesive markets, where it holds a number of market leadership positions both regionally and globally.
