Site Visit to Gamuda Land’s 5-Diamond Low Carbon City, Gamuda Cove

Date: 15 November 2023

Members of BMCC had an incredible time at Gamuda Land’s 5-Diamond Low Carbon City, Gamuda Cove. They graciously hosted our Built Environment Committee meeting and led a site visit of their smart city in conjunction with BMCC’s ESG Horizons month.

Our committee members discussed plans and initiatives for 2024. They were briefed by the GAMUDA LAND team on the Gamuda Cove masterplan, which holds detailed considerations to ensure sustainable living for its residents, with the plan to have one of the largest EV superchargers in South East Asia available by the end of the year.

After the meeting at their state-of-the-art Wetlands Estates Lounge, we were treated to a lovely site tour of the township and its surrounding ecosystem. This included visits to facilities like their Aerobar, SplashMania water park, and a ride around their lakeside Central Parks.

Gamuda Land was represented by Eusoffe Chua, CCO; Dede Pong, Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships; Sharon Chow (MBA), Strategic Partnerships Business Development; and Azuan Saharil, Executive for the Business Development Unit and Strategic Partnership. The BMCC was represented by the chairman of our Built Environment Committee Martin Haeger MBE; our CEO Jennifer Lopez; Communications and PR Manager Angelyn Ng; Events Manager Siew Kee; Manager Hau Wei YOONG and Officer Asyraf Shahar of our Public Affairs and Government Relations Department; and Content Creator Chad Nojey.

The meeting and site visit was also attended by Muhammad Royani Mohd Adnan, Country Manager of Mott MacDonald; Michael Folk, Head of Sustainability, Corporate, and Development of Aathaworld; Richard Baker, Director and ESG Expert in Green Technology for PwC Malaysia; Francine Torbett, Deputy Director of Trade for the British High Commission; and Khedzair Osman, Principal for Markets & Clients of Arup Jurunding.

Our team had a great time touring Gamuda Cove’s fascinating nature sanctuary, and hope the tour was inspirational to our Built Environment committee members. We look forward to seeing how they will utilise ideas and lessons from this visit. We were also very impressed by their facilities and Gamuda Land’s devotion to creating a sustainable living environment and thank them for hosting us.
