Raising A Toast to 2025 at BMCC’s New Year’s Drinks

On 9 January, we kicked off the new year with our annual New Year’s Drinks, held at the BMCC Office in Menara IQ, TRX. This lively event brought together our valued members and stakeholders to reflect on the achievements of 2024 and toast to a promising year ahead.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Mak Joon Nien, BMCC Chairman and the CEO and Managing Director of Standard Chartered Malaysia. This was followed by an uplifting New Year speech and toast delivered by David Wallace, Acting British High Commissioner to Malaysia.

Both speakers reaffirmed the Chamber’s strong partnership with the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and emphasised shared goals to drive economic growth and strengthen trade relations between the UK and Malaysia. They also highlighted the UK’s participation in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), underscoring its vital role in enhancing bilateral trade ties and fostering economic collaboration.
