On the 8th August 2017, the BMCC with support from the British High Commission and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) hosted the Official Launch of the Oxford Leadership 4.0 Executive Education Portfolio in Malaysia, a partnership between the Saïd Business School and K-Pintar.
This major business education portfolio was launched to build the capabilities and skills needed to meet Malaysia’s ambitious plans for economic growth and respond to the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution. This initiative is supported by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) of the Malaysian Government, and the GREAT Britain Campaign, led by the Department for International Trade.
The portfolio has been developed especially for Malaysia by Oxford Saïd, in partnership with leading Malaysian training provider K-Pintar, and responds to the key themes and learning needs identified by business leaders from SMEs and corporates in that country.
The event’s guest of honour, Mark Garnier MP, the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Trade was accompanied by H.E. Vicki Treadell CMG, MVO, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia to officiate the launch.
In his keynote address, Mark Garnier spoke of the long-standing history of British education in Malaysia. He focused on the educational developments in Malaysia, which has seen rapid growth and referred to the partnership between the UK and Malaysia between the Saïd Business School and K-Pintar as an example of a mutually benefitting arrangement.
The Minister said “The UK is home to world-leading education expertise and it’s welcome to see this recognised through the Saïd Business School and K-Pintar collaboration. Executive training programmes like this are essential to equipping business leaders with skills they need to drive future growth and economic success. As an international economic department, we are committed to promoting trade and investment ties with high performing economies like Malaysia as we look to global opportunities beyond Europe.”

The HRDF’s Chief Executive who was also present as the program has assured that participation in this programme will be completely claimable under HRDF.
The Leadership 4.0 portfolio initially comprises three main elements:
The Oxford SME Exponential Learning Lab has been designed specifically for leaders in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop solutions to the challenges and opportunities presented by a complex mix of technological and social advances, geopolitical changes, established and emerging markets, and an increasingly mobile talent pool. Key to this programme is the objective of creating impact at scale. Between 100 and 150 SME leaders will attend each week-long programme in Oxford, with the aim of developing individuals at the same time as shaping the future SME ecosystem that Malaysia needs for success.
The Oxford Leadership 4.0 Programme is aimed at senior leaders in large corporations, multinational and international companies. It will transform their understanding of the critical role that leadership plays at the individual, organisational and systemic level in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and the advent of ‘Industry 4.0’.
In addition, Oxford Saïd will bring subject-matter experts to Malaysia for a series of Masterclasses on key themes including the future of work, brand and innovation.
