Commencing 1 April 2024, our Deputy Chair, Mak Joon Nien, the Managing Director and CEO of Standard Chartered Malaysia will be stepping into the role of the Chairman of the BMCC Board, in the interim period until the next BMCC AGM.
Mak brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that will undoubtedly guide the BMCC forward during this transitional phase. Our best wishes to Mak as he takes on this additional role.
Mak takes over from Mark Arthun, the Managing Director and Site Leader of Smith & Nephew Operations, Malaysia.
Mark will be stepping down from his position as the BMCC Chair as he embarks on a new global role with Smith & Nephew, in the United States. During his tenure as BMCC Chair since September 2022, Mark has been instrumental in spearheading various successful initiatives for the BMCC. These include the establishment of BMCC presence in Penang, the implementation of a robust leadership and governance framework for BMCC Sector Committees & Networks to propel the success of these networks, the introduction of new membership tiers, and the successful relocation of the BMCC Executive office.
