Empowering Women in STEM this International Women’s Day Highlights from INNOVATE HER

In conjunction with International Women’s Day on 8 March, we partnered with the British Council and YTL Group to host INNOVATE HER, an inspiring session celebrating three remarkable leaders in STEM who are making real impacts in their fields.
Our distinguished speakers shared their journeys, challenges, and the driving forces behind their success in an inspiring and interactive session that was skilfully moderated by BMCC’s Board Member Professor Dr. Mushtak Al-Atabi, CEO and Provost of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Natasha Zulkifli, Chair of BMCC’s DEI Network, Director of YTL Construction, and Founder of Women in Rail Malaysia, spoke about her companies’ dedication to equal gender representation in leadership roles. She also shared the career break she took to care for her family and spoke about the opportunity that reignited her career.
Koh Lee Ching, CEO of CALMS Technologies, highlighted the importance of a strong support system and resilience. She advocated the importance of self-ownership and independence, encouraging the audience to be their own individuals not defined by others’ expectations.
Professor Dr. Woo Yin Ling, Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and Founding Trustee of the ROSE Foundation, shared that combining innovation, empathy, and hard work was key to her success.
