Diversity in the Workplace with YB Hannah Yeoh

“To any company or institution here, I say don’t fear diversity if you want to grow and be successful,” said Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Hannah Yeoh, at the BMCC Focus Talk on Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: Raising the Bar on the 26th February 2019.

She said hiring people who vary in gender, age and background can bring a wealth of benefits because they are invaluable contributors of ideas and input which can drive development and advance technology. “When you recruit a diverse range of people, including those with disabilities, policy planning for the organisation is more focussed because you have to take into consideration many different aspects,” she commented.

The event organised by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce also featured a panel discussion on creating a future-ready workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion with Sarah Deverall (Director, British Council), Sridharan Nair (Managing Partner, PwC Malaysia), Abrar Anwar (CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia) and Arun Menon (Managing Director, IPSOS Malaysia) with Nik Tasha (Client Organisation Director, IPSOS Malaysia) moderating the session.
