BMCC Outreach in the Northern Region – PENANG

In 2022, the BMCC made its inaugural stamp in the Northern Region of Malaysia with a networking event at Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang. Once an important trading hub with British colonial buildings, Penang has developed rapidly over the years to become one of Malaysia’s vital economic states with a high-income economy with focus on manufacturing, construction and services.

The key objective of BMCC’s outreach into Penang is to connect and establish healthy business relationships with like-minded organisations as well as to discover how the BMCC can strengthen British-Malaysia ties within the state. The BMCC looks to establish a relevant presence to facilitate bilateral-trade and investment in such sectors by addressing members’ value proposition and business matchmaking.

Clarivate

The BMCC team had the opportunity to visit one of our members in Penang, Clarivate (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. Clarivate assists customers in locating, protecting, and commercialising their inventions by utilising the company’s reliable subscription and technology-based solutions along with extensive domain expertise.

The BMCC team also met with Shaun Lee, Senior Director, Global Order Management & Billing Finance of Clarivate, for a productive discussion focused on Global Business Services. The conversation opened doors to potential collaboration, and we look forward to exploring these opportunities alongside the Clarivate team.

Stonyhurst International School

The BMCC team had the pleasure of visiting Stonyhurst International School Penang, a coeducational day school for students aged 3 to 18 from all religious denominations and secular belief systems. Guided by the motto ‘Quant Je Puis’ (as much as I can), the school is dedicated to knowing and caring for each child, fostering an environment where students are encouraged to show care, compassion, and commitment to others.

During the visit, the team was warmly welcomed by Richard Moore, Principal of Stonyhurst International School Penang.

Tenby Schools Penang

The BMCC team met with Jeanne Denyer, Campus Principal of Tenby Schools Penang, to hear about their positive experience as a BMCC member and explored collaboration opportunities. We also received an impressive tour of the campus, the only dedicated “STEAM” school in Malaysia. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and working closely with the Tenby Schools Penang team.
