British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 and Networking

We held our 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25 June 2026 at Menara IQ, Tun Razak Exchange, officially opening with Deputy Chair Nik Tasha Nik Kamaruddin, Chief Brand Strategy Officer of Sunway Group, presenting the Chamber’s 2025 performance. The presentation reflected on a year marked by the Chamber’s strong growth, a series of impactful engagement, and successful execution of strategic priorities.
In her address, Nik Tasha highlighted the BMCC’s achievements in 2025, describing it as a year that demonstrated the Chamber’s ability to connect, advocate, and create opportunities across Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the wider ASEAN region. She noted that the Chamber’s continued success was driven by the collective support of its members, partners, stakeholders, and team, providing a strong foundation for the year ahead.
The BMCC recorded its highest-ever net profit in 2025, supported by increased operating revenue, stronger advertising income, and disciplined cost management. The Chamber also welcomed 39 new corporate members, achieved a 12% increase in membership subscription revenue, organised 47 events—including 41 complimentary sessions for members—and participated in 54 government engagements. BMCC further strengthened its position as a leading business network by maintaining the largest digital media following among chambers of commerce in the region.
During the AGM, five Board Members retired and, being eligible, were re-elected for another term: Andrew Diamond of Asset Data Solutions, Anthony Partington of XCL Education Malaysia, Prof. Dr Mushtak Al-Atabi of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Dato’ Yong Yoon Li of Royal Selangor International, and Mark Hall of HSBC Bank Malaysia. Their re-election reflects the confidence of members in the Board’s continued leadership and governance.
We would also like to congratulate Nik Tasha Nik Kamaruddin on her election as Chair of BMCC! She makes history as the first woman to hold the position. Having previously served as Deputy Chair, Chair of the Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and Executive Director of the Chamber, she brings extensive experience, institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to advancing BMCC’s mission and strategic priorities.
The Chamber also announced its Board for 2026/2027, comprising leaders from a diverse range of industries including finance, education, professional services, energy, construction, talent development, and manufacturing.
The AGM then concluded with a networking session, where members, Board representatives, partners, and stakeholders came together to reconnect, exchange ideas, and build new relationships.
The AGM concluded with heartfelt appreciation for outgoing Chairman Mak Joon Nien of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, whose leadership from 2024 to 2026 helped drive the Chamber’s growth and influence. We also thank our outgoing Board Members Dato’ Omar Siddiq of HSBC Bank Malaysia and Ryan Telling of Bowers Group for their dedicated service and valuable contributions.
As the BMCC embarks on a new chapter under its 2026/2027 Board, we remain committed to strengthening UK-Malaysia business relations, championing the interests of our members, and creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration and growth. Building on the momentum of a successful 2025, we look forward to delivering greater value to our members with the support of the Board and our committees, while continuing to foster partnerships that support sustainable economic progress in the years ahead.
