BP | Castrol Lubricants (M) Sdn. Bhd. Awarded SIRIM Certification for Genuine Engine Oils

BP Castrol Lubricants (M) Sdn. Bhd. has received product certification under Malaysia’s SIRIM 58 Standard for Genuine Products, aimed at bolstering consumer confidence and curbing the spread of counterfeit engine oils.

Castrol joins other lubricant brands, including PETRONAS, Motul through Specialty Lubricants Trading (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., the authorised distributor of Motul Asia Pacific, Mayshowa Auto Parts Sdn. Bhd., and Kroon Oil, through its Malaysian distributor Kai Shen Marketing Sdn. Bhd., to obtain the SIRIM 58 certification.

The standard, administered by SIRIM QAS International, follows comprehensive inspections, audits and conformity checks to validate the quality and authenticity of Castrol’s motor oils, safeguarding legitimate manufacturers and protecting motorists from fake products.

A certificate presentation ceremony took place on 18 August 2025 at Castrol’s Kuala Lumpur office, where SIRIM QAS International Chief Executive Ts. Md. Adha Rahmat presented the certificate to Gan Wee Kiong, country sales director for Malaysia and Singapore at BP Castrol Lubricants.

Industry observers say the recognition showcases Castrol’s commitment to quality assurance and sets a strong precedent for other lubricant players in the fight against counterfeiting.
