BMCC Roundtable with Lord Justice Richard Snowden and Judge Catherine Burton

On 11 February, we had the privilege of hosting an exclusive roundtable with Lord Justice Richard Snowden, Senior Judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and Judge Catherine Burton of the UK Insolvency and Companies Court.
The closed-door roundtable session delivered insights into cross-border insolvency developments and asset preservation, alongside a constructive exchange on advancing UK–Malaysia judicial dialogue and professional training.
Members also explored the growing role of mediation in dispute resolution, reflecting on UK trends and its evolving adoption in Malaysia.
On AI and the future of the legal profession, both judges shared measured perspectives on how technology is reshaping the legal practice, while emphasising the continued importance of sound judgment, rigorous training pathways, and industry support for young lawyers entering the profession.
The discussion concluded with reflections on judicial independence and the importance of a robust business court system in reinforcing investor confidence and sustaining a competitive business environment.
As the UK and Malaysia continue to deepen collaboration across legal and commercial spheres, we at the BMCC remain committed to fostering meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnerships that strengthen the rule of law and support a resilient, investor-friendly ecosystem for our members and the wider business community.
