BMCC Meets MATRADE to Explore Trade Collaboration Opportunities

The British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) recently met with representatives from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) to better understand the agency’s priorities and plans for strengthening Malaysia’s domestic and international trade ecosystem, while exploring areas where the Chamber can support and collaborate.
The BMCC delegation was represented by Sukhbir Singh, Deputy Chair of the BMCC Talent Network and CEO of M&N Group of Companies, alongside Farhan Zamri, Executive Director of BMCC; Pradeeban Letsumanasingam, Membership Manager; and Nicole Cheong, Public Affairs and Government Relations Executive.
The discussion focused on MATRADE’s initiatives to support Malaysian companies, particularly SMEs and internationally minded businesses, including those within the BMCC membership. Both parties shared perspectives on how stronger alignment between industry and government can help businesses expand their market reach and navigate evolving trade opportunities.
Several potential areas for collaboration were identified during the meeting, including supporting import substitution initiatives, encouraging greater participation in international trade fairs, and exploring opportunities for membership exchange between networks to strengthen connections across the business community.
The meeting provided a valuable platform for dialogue and reaffirmed a shared commitment to supporting companies in scaling their operations, strengthening trade linkages, and creating more structured engagement between industry and government stakeholders.
