BMCC – Invest Selangor: Roundtable Session with the Chief Minister of Selangor
The BMCC and the Selangor State Investment Promotion Agency, Invest Selangor Berhad co-organised an exclusive members’ roundtable discussion with the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on 9 November 2021. The roundtable was attended by 15 BMCC members comprising mostly Sterling companies selected by Invest Selangor that are expected to be expanding their investments into the state in the coming years. Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor, Dato’ Hasan Azhari also took the opportunity to present the investment priorities and opportunities in Selangor to our members who were present.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin, in his opening speech, said, “The United Kingdom has been an important trading partner of Malaysia and Selangor for many years. Specifically for Selangor, UK companies have created thousands of job opportunities within the manufacturing and global shared services sector.” He also hoped that this collaboration between the BMCC and Selangor will continue for many years to come and will provide excellent networking opportunities for potential investors in the Golden State of Malaysia, Selangor.
Meanwhile, Dato’ Hasan, in his presentation, highlighted the five core clusters identified by Selangor to accelerate its economic growth and sustainability. They are:
- Life Sciences
- Food & Beverages Manufacturing
- Electrical and Electronics
- Machinery and Equipment
- Transport Equipment.
The Selangor government is also focused on developing the Selangor Halal Ecosystem, Selangor Aerospace Ecosystem, Selangor Biotechnology Ecosystem and the Selangor Digital transformation initiatives to enable the acceleration of these areas.
This roundtable discussion provided the selected BMCC members an opportunity to directly hear from Dato’ Seri Amirudin on the Selangor Government’s economy recovery plans, investment opportunities in Selangor as well as why Selangor is a strategic destination for investment and trade. The session also allowed our members to dialogue with the Right Honourable Chief Minister and raise issues and challenges related to doing business in Selangor and Malaysia as a whole.
The session was a success with members given the opportunity to dialogue with the Right Honourable Chief Minister and network with officials from the various state agencies present.
