BMCC Courtesy Call with YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition & Water Transformation

On 7 July, we had a courtesy meeting with YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition & Water Transformation (PETRA) to hear directly from the minister on the ministry’s key national priorities in energy transition, in areas such as renewable energy, the ASEAN Power Grid, skill gaps, and capability development. The meeting was also an opportunity to showcase the depth of the capabilities of the Chamber and our members in the energy sector, as well as explore how UK expertise and investment can support Malaysia’s energy transition agenda.

During the meeting, YAB Dato’ Sri highlighted several key interests and challenges faced by the ministry that currently require industry support—such as smart grids, undersea cables, tidal and wave energy, and green financing. YAB Dato’ Sri is also keen to explore potential collaboration with the Chamber on capacity building for civil servants, such as secondment/attachment programme (e.g. BCAP) at BMCC member companies.

We extend our gratitude to YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof for meeting with us and our members, and sharing the ministry’s priorities in energy transition.
