Border passes to Thailand back in operation from May 5
Malaysia residents in Perlis, Kedah, North Perak, and Kelantan can now use the Malaysia-Thailand border pass to travel between the two nations, starting from 5 May 2022 - Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia announced on Facebook via a New Straits Times report.

Ruzaini Rais, Chairman of Perlis Border Relations and Cooperation Committee, shared that this travel initiative is part of a "relaxation" after Malaysia and Thailand "reached an agreement" to spur the economic recovery of both nations through travel. The Chairman also added in the report that travellers from Malaysia who would like to use the Malaysia-Thailand border pass have to apply through the Thailand Pass web portal 24 hours prior to their departure. Further, the then-approved travellers are only allowed to stay in Thailand for three days.

Azhar Ab Hamid, Director of the Kelantan Immigration Department, said that Malaysian residents can head to three immigration, customs, quarantine, and security (ICQS) centres in Rantau Panjang, Bukit Bunga, and Pengakalan Kubor, to start their commercial and social visits to Thailand.

Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia | Paving a Path to Net Zero
Supporting the Paris Agreement goals on climate change to prevent the worst effects of global warming, Standard Chartered recently announced its ambitious new interim 2030 targets for the most carbon-intensive sectors and its methodology for a pathway to net zero by 2050.

The bank also aims to catalyse finance and partnerships to scale impact, capital and climate solutions to where they are needed most, including mobilising US$300bil in green and transition finance by 2030.

As Standard Chartered Malaysia chief executive officer and managing director Abrar Anwar said,"Companies that are responsible for the bulk of the world’s emissions are typically financed either by or through banks. With sustainability being a big part of the Bank’s focus, we are well-positioned to make the world a better, cleaner and safer place by minimising the negative impact of our financing and helping clients transition to a low carbon economy.

There is still much to be done but I am proud to share that we are catalysing finance and partnerships to scale impact, capital and climate solutions to where there are needed most, including mobilising USD300 billion in green and transition finance by 2030."
