Issue #289 - 7 February 2022

Dear Badtrieshah,
Looking back on January & exciting news for February!
As we make our way back post festivities, the Chamber would like to take this opportunity to reminisce on the first month of the year and look forward to what’s in store in February.

The new year kicked off with our first networking event of the year - New Year’s Drinks in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 13, 2022 and followed up quickly by our first appearance in the Northern region, in Penang on Jan 19, 2022. We had a great time catching up and making new acquaintances along the way – and we look forward to the next one!

Also, we officially launched our flagship event – Business Excellence Awards 2022! The Awards, the grandest of its occasion - looks to celebrate the merit of trade and investment between United Kingdom and Malaysia. Mark your calendars for the Awards Gala Night on 26th May 2022 and keep up to date with event details on our website.

Returning with a bang – we look to honour and profile winners in seven (7) various categories up for grabs! Hence, we call upon members and non-members alike to nominate respective organisations that fit the bill!

Click here to view the full list of categories and respective criteria – or you can connect with Daniel Lee, Government Affairs & Public Relations Manager should you have any inquiries on the nomination process at daniel@bmcc.org.my

We’ve also launched our Green Newsletter Edition 11th last week – if you’d like to have a read through, click here.

And it looks to be a busy February for the Chamber, as we have the following activities to look out for. Members’ participation are fundamental at such events thus we’ll keep you posted on availability for participation.

  1. Roundtable with YB Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) on 8th February - Exclusively for Sterling Members
  2. Business Networking Drinks @ Johor on 15th February
  3. SME Financing: Emerging From Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond Webinar on 24 February 2022

Nonetheless, we will share event details and post-event notes in the coming editions. For any inquiries, you can reach the Chamber at info@bmcc.org.my

Till then, stay safe and all the best for February!

Tay & Partners | ASEAN Data Management Framework & #MeToo
The Data Management Framework is primarily designed to provide guidance based on best practices to private organisations and businesses operating within ASEAN Member States, particularly small and medium enterprises - to implement a data management system which includes data governance structure and appropriate data protection safeguards based on the purpose of data sets throughout its lifecycle.

The #MeToo movement started out as a way for survivors of sexual harassment and assault to feel that they are not alone, has evolved into a global social movement against all forms of sexual abuse. Whilst the availability of civil action is a breakthrough for victims who are subjected to sexual harassment, the Sexual Harassment Bill is still necessary to criminalise such unwanted acts.
