Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council is an agency under the Ministry of Health tasked to raise Malaysia’s profile as a leading global healthcare destination. Established in 2009, MHTC facilitates collaboration between key public and private sector stakeholders to drive industry growth and sustainability. Malaysia offers expertise in medical fields such as cardiology, fertility, oncology, orthopaedics, neurology, general health screening, and more. Leading the industry with world-class holistic healthcare services, numerous medical facilities have attained accreditations such as the Joint Commission International (JCI), Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS). As a testament to this excellence in patient care and healthcare services, Malaysia has received numerous global recognition, notably as “Destination of the Year” for healthcare travel by UK-based International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) thrice in a row between 2015 to 2017, and again in 2020. US-based International Living ranked Malaysia as the “Best Country in the World” for healthcare from 2015 to 2017 and in 2019.
