Business Excellence Awards 2018
In conjunction with the BMCC’s 55th Anniversary, we hosted our first ever Business Excellence Awards on the 12th of July 2018 to recognise the very best of individuals and companies across a range of categories. With over 500 attendees, it was a high-profile evening to remember with exquisite dining, entertainment and business celebration.

Malaysian Investor of the Year in the UK: YTL Corporation
This award recognises a Malaysian individual, company or group having a track record of investment in the UK by having built on its successful Malaysian business, and brought mutual economic benefit. The award will focus on the winner demonstrating internationalisation of a Malaysian business. This award will be in celebration of a true Malaysia success story in UK and will exemplify the “Best of Malaysian Business gone International.”
Outstanding UK-Malaysia Partnership: Alexander Dennis Ltd & Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd
The Outstanding Partnership Award goes to an individual, team or company that has successfully partnered with a UK or Malaysian counterpart. The close collaboration and synergies created through this partnership will have driven exceptional commercial results and been of significant value-creation to the economy. The award will be given to those who have capitalised on the best of UK & Malaysia expertise through a seamless partnership
UK-Malaysia Business Personality of the Year: Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liew Kee Sin
This award recognises an individual who through his/her UK-Malaysian business interests has made a positive impact on the economy, strengthened business ties between both countries, and impacted the community at large. This personality will have demonstrated strong leadership skills, creating a culture that excites, motivates and encourages innovation and ambition. A personality who has achieved many successes in business, who inspires and motivates others
Investing in People: Shell Malaysia
The investing in People Awards recognises an organisation which has dedicated significant attention and focus on developing people, whether its employees, graduates or members of its supply chain. Through the pursuit of excellence, this organisation will have demonstrated its commitment to up-skilling the workforce
Diversity Award: British Council
The Diversity Award recognises companies of all sizes, across all industries that have shown their commitment to developing a diverse workforce. This award recognizes those who have programs, initiatives, resources and/or community involvement programs in place to advance the promotion of diversity in the workplace, while openly embracing the benefits that a diverse workforce has for everyone.
Technology & Innovation (SME): The Lost Food Project
This award is given to a company that relentlessly pursues new solutions and challenges the status quo in order to operate with greater efficiency and effectiveness. Through developing innovative technologies and taking risks, this company is contributing to Malaysia’s productivity enhancement and paving the way to greater system automation while developing its people’s skill-set to tackle these challenges
Technology & Innovation (Large): Dyson Manufacturing Malaysia
This award is given to a company that relentlessly pursues new solutions and challenges the status quo in order to operate with greater efficiency and effectiveness. Through developing innovative technologies and taking risks, this company is contributing to Malaysia’s productivity enhancement and paving the way to greater system automation while developing its people’s skill-set to tackle these challenges

UK Investor of the Year in Malaysia: Tesco Stores Malaysia
This award recognises a British company having a track record of investment in Malaysia by having built on its successful UK business, and brought mutual economic benefit. The winner will have successfully integrated its business in Malaysia, and demonstrated its appetite and commitment to continue to grow its presence in-market
